How to Teach Children to Read When Homeschooling : Alphabet Sound Charts & Homeschooling Children

One of the very next things we do after singing the alphabet hymn is the alphabet voices chant and the children adore this. Sometimes even more than the alphabet hymn and it's a great routine, you can do it as many times but make sure you start out doing it each time you tutor or homeschool and we will start with the A and go all way through. As we go through it and as you do it day after day and the children start memorizing the seems, they're going to say hey how about I use instead of using this for this letter, how about I use a different word.

And that's great, let them be creative as long as it fits. Let them change this. Or you are able to switch it up and mention we're not going to use feline today, we're going to use coleslaw or something else that starts with a C but have fun with it. It is fun and you'll is my finding that your child adoration it. So here we'll start, ready and proceed; -A-apple, B-ball, C-cat, D-dog, E-elephant, F-frog, G-goat, H-hat, I-igloo, J-jump, K-kitten, L-light, M-man, N-not, O-octopus, P-pepper, Q-now Q doesn't have a qu tone unless there's a U, but it almost always does, so only teach them it that way. Q-queen, R-rabbit, S-sun, T-telephone, U-umbrella, V-Victor, W-water, X-now X is never at the beginning of the word with XX tone that is usually utilized, so X is no other one that goes at the end X-fox, and I teach X, the sound looks like frost breaking, that's what I tell children, practice XX, so X-fox.

Y-yellow, Z-zebra and that's it.
